We celebrated the end of the school year with a trip to Jungle Jim's.
Sarah learned to walk on the last day she was 13 months. She is so proud of herself for being a big girl.
Mary and Anna took swimming lessons for the first time this summer. They loved it and were disappointed the lessons didn't last longer.
Austin decided he didn't want to take lessons this year. He wanted to play with me and Sarah on the playground and take lessons next year, he said. The last three days of lessons, the teacher had the kids jump off of the diving board. Anna jumped the first time they went to the diving board and was very proud of herself. She said, "It was scary, but I really wanted to jump. Then when I jumped, it was fun!" Mary got up the courage to jump on the last day of class.
On the ninth day of ten lessons, Bowie woke up and got his swimming suit on. I reminded him that we were going to swimming lessons and that he and I were going to play on the playground with Sarah. "No. I'm going swimming today," he said. "I'm going to jump off of the diving board, and my teacher is going to catch me." I let him wear his swimming suit, but on the way to lessons, I reminded him that he wasn't in the class this year. He continued to tell me that he was going swimming.
When class was almost over and the kids went to the diving board to jump, Bowie went to the diving board and got in line. When everyone in the class had had a chance to jump (not everyone did that day), Mary told her teacher, Jenner, "Bowie wants to jump." Jenner looked up and asked Bowie if he wanted to jump, then helped him do a sitting jump off of the board. Bowie was so proud of himself, and so was I. "I just jumped off of that diving board, and my teacher catched me!" he said. "He didn't let me go under the water!" Way to show some resolve, little buddy!
We had a new patio poured in our backyard!
Anna and Sarah at the castle slides:
Sarah and Austin and I had lots of fun hanging out during swimming lessons.
We finished off June with a camping trip to try out our "new" pop-up trailer! I'll add pictures when I get them from David's phone.
