We finally went to Disneyland! On the way, we stopped for some cheese curds in Beaver and met some goats.
After a lot of driving, we made it to Disneyland! We ran from one ride to the next and saw everything we had on our list. It was a great day.
Astro Blasters:
Sarah loved the Tiki Room! She waved and pointed at the birds the whole time. Before we left on vacation, David stayed up late one night making us delicious wraps and burritos so we could focus on the rides the one day we were in the park. Now I know he is a wrapmaster, we will be using his services much more often.
A lady was throwing popcorn to two ducks, which made for some great lunch entertainment.
Waiting to ride Jungle Cruise:
"Quick! Say cheese so we can get to the next thing!"
King Arthur's Carousel:
The kids really tried to pull the sword out of the stone.
Austin loved riding Casey Jr.'s train.
Tinkerbell's snow-making machine:
We arrived to see Silvermist and Terence just in time.
We ate burritos for dinner while we were in line for Dumbo. The kids rode on the Matterhorn with Daddy three times before we left. The kids also really enjoyed the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean.
It rained on our second day in California, and we went to the beach. On our third day, we went to Knott's Berry Farm. We were much more relaxed and enjoyed a lower key theme-park day. David took Mary and Anna on one "scary" roller coaster. While they were gone, Austin and Sarah rode on these big rigs. This was Austin's favorite ride of the vacation.
They also took a spin on the merry-go-round.
The verdict? The "scary" roller coaster was not scary for Mary. Anna and Dad said no more scary rides for them (but I did talk David into riding Montezuma's Revenge later on).
There were lots of kid rides at Camp Snoopy. The sky cabin gave us an amazing view.
Mary and Mom decided they liked the Calico Mine Ride the best.
Austin, Sarah, and I toured the old west town while Daddy took Mary and Anna on Bigfoot Rapids.
Then we went to Marshall Purdy's cowboy show, where David was asked to name his favorite song. He said, "Uh... " and the cowboy promptly made up a song called "Uh." He referred to it several times during the show. The kids thought it was hilarious. Austin still asks David occasionally, "Daddy, why is your favorite song called, 'Uh?'"
More Camp Snoopy rides:
This skateboard ride was definitely more fun for the kids than for Dad, but he was a good sport.
Austin led the group of kids powering the railroad push carts.
Mary laughed here because, "Austin sat on that guy's lap!!"
On the Calico Railroad, we were held up by bandits. After a kid behind us scared them off with a souvenir snake, they approached our seats. They looked at us and one said, "They don't have any money! Look at all those kids!" and they ran out of our car to the next one.
In the end, the kids all liked Knotts Berry Farm as much as or more than Disneyland--who knew?!
