Mary's Baptism, March 2013

Mary's baptism day was very special.
Jack Christiansen from her primary class was baptized the same day.  He knew Mary was a little nervous and was very protective of her.  He told his mother he thought it might help Mary if he got baptized first, and he volunteered to be first when the kids were asked.
Mary was excited and proud to have Grandma Luke give a talk on the Holy Ghost.  In our stake, the mothers also give a baptism introduction for each child before the baptisms.  Here is Mary's baptism introduction that she helped write:
Mary Luke

Mary is the oldest child in our family.  She has two younger sisters and a younger brother.  Mary’s favorite Primary song is “Scripture Power.”  Her favorite scripture story is Daniel in the Lions’ Den.

Mary is very creative.  She loves to read and write stories.  She loves learning to play the piano.
Mary is very thoughtful and kind.  She often helps her little brother and sisters when they need some extra love and attention.  If her daddy ever has to go out of town, she comes downstairs at night to make sure I’m not lonely and to help me clean the house.

Mary particularly loves two things about the Savior: He loves the children, and He is kind.  She is a good example to our family because we can see that she tries to follow Jesus and choose the right.  We are so thankful to have Mary in our family, and we are very proud of her for choosing to be baptized.
Mary was so brave.  She was so proud of herself for getting baptized, and so were we.  There was such a special spirit with these children who had decided to follow the Savior's example.  Mary didn't want many pictures at the time, but we took these afterward.
This is Anna's, "You'd better not be taking my picture!" face.
Thank you so much to all four grandparents for your love and time and support.  I'm so sorry I didn't do a better job of getting your pictures taken, but we won't forget all you did to help Mary have such a special day.

Mary also got this necklace from the Activity Days leaders for her birthday.  She is very excited to be in Activity Days. Last month, I got to accompany her on a field trip to the Bountiful Temple where she had her picture taken--can't wait to see the print!
